Dana Seekins enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Husson men’s track & field program in 2017-18 and currently serves as the pole vault and hurdles coach.
Since Husson reestablished it’s men’s track & field program after a 73 year hiatus in 2016, Seekins has guided numberous pole vaulters and hurdlers to multiple school records, conference champions, All-New England and All-Conference honors as well the program’s first DIII New England Outdoor Qualifier, Franceso Wright.
Seekins joined the Husson track & field program in November of 2013.
He also servers as a volunteer assistant coach for the Bangor High School indoor and outdoor track & field programs coaching the pole vaulters. In the last 14 years and 28 seasons at Bangor he has coached nearly a hundred student athletes in the pole vault including multiple league champions, state medal winners with eight State of Maine Class A first place finishes, nine New England qualifiers and the current girls indoor and outdoor league record holder and Class A State of Maine Pole Vault record holder.
Seekins is a graduate of the University of Maine, where he graduated with high distinction while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and an Associate degrees in forestry, civil engineering and business. While studying at the University of Maine, he was a four-year letterwinner on the University of Maine’s men’s track & field team under Coach Edmund Styrna & Jim Ballinger from 1981-84 and was a 1983 qualifier for the Eastern Collegiate Championship meet.
The Bucksport, Maine, native attended Bucksport High School and lettered in track & field under coaches Joel Sankey & John Craig from 1976-1980 and cross country in 1980.
Seekins now owns a small maintenance and reliability consulting business (The MRP Group) where he provides engineering and equipment troubleshooting and sales support to pulp and paper mills in New England.
Dana resides in Glenburn, Maine with his wife Lynn of 30 years. They have three children that have all also graduated from the University of Maine with engineering degrees.
