Leo Kashian enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Husson men’s track & field program in 2017-18 and currently serves as the sprints and jumps coach.

Since Husson reestablished it’s men’s track & field program after a 73 year hiatus in 2016, Kashian has guided numberous sprinters and jumpers to multiple school records, conference champions, All-New England and All-Conference honors.

Before coming to Husson in the fall of 2015, Kashian spent six seasons as the head girls cross country and boys outdoor coach at Caribou High School and three seasons at Caribou Middle School.

Prior to moving to the State of Maine, Kashian served as an assistant coach for the Billerica High School girls and boys track & field teams in Billerica, Mass., coaching the jumpers and the throwers from 1983-1985.

After coaching at Billerica High for two years, Kashian accepted a coaching job at his alma mater the University of Lowell, now the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. He spent five years at UMass Lowell, coaching the River Hawks’ men’s and women’s sprinters, jumpers and relay teams from 1987-1992.

During his time at UMass Lowell, Kashian coached two New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) champions, a Men’s Hurdler, Gus Silva and a Women’s High Jumper, Jane Servi, both are members of the UMass Lowell Athletic Hall of Fame. Servi went on to set the school record, 5’ 10.75”, which she still holds today, while winning the High Jump at the 1987-88 NCAA Division II Indoor Championship. She later went on to finish in 5th place at the 1988 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championship a 5’ 8.25” becoming a double All-American.

Kashian was a four-year member of the University of Lowell track & field program servering as team captain his senior year. He set school records in the 880 yd. run, 1000 yd. run, 1500 m, and triple jump and placed 3rd  in 880 yd. run at the 1978-79 NEICAAA Indoor Championships and was the Eastern League champion in the 1000 yd. run in 1979 and 800 m run 1981.

Kashian earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from the University of Lowell in 1981 and his Master’s degree in Eduction from the University of Lowell in 1984.

Leo has a wife, Ann, have four children, one of which graduated from Husson in 2017 and the another entered her freshman year at Husson in the fall of 2017 and is a member of the Husson women’s track & field team.
