Bill Hodgdon enters his second season as a men’s basketball assistant coach in 2017-18.
Hodgdon’s coaching career has spanned 25 years with the last 15 coaching youth travel and middle school basketball in Hampden, Maine. Beyond the Hampden community, Hodgdon has also been involved with the Old Town girls Varsity basketball program as well as coaching high school AAU teams, while reaching the national AAU level. Aside from coaching basketball, he has also coached American Legion baseball for 13 years in both in the Mount Desert Island and Hampden communities.
Hodgdon began his coaching career at the middle school level coaching softball, soccer and basketball, and is credited with starting the AAU program for the middle school level on Mount Desert Island during this time.
Hodgdon earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Maine in 1995, after transfering from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 1992.
Hodgdon began his teaching career at Pemetic Elementary School in Southwest Harbor, Maine, teaching Kindergarten for one year before moving onto middle school English and Math. He left teaching in 2004 to start this own landscaping company, the Hodgdon Tyler Family Landscaping which is located in Hampden Maine and is in its 13th successful season. They employ upwards to ten employees in the peak of the season and they provide central and coastal Maine with a variety of landscaping services such as patios, walkways, plant installations and basic lawn care needs.
A native of Mount Desert Island, Hodgdon attended Mount Desert Island High School. He and his wife, Alegra reside in Hampden with their one year old son, Fin. Hodgdon’s other childern are Madison, 17, twins William and Sydney, 14, and his step children Grace, 25, Sadie, 17, and Ross, 15.
