Prior to being named head coach at Nokomis, Smith served as an assistant varsity and head JV field hockey coach at Old Town High School in 2014.

She has coached club field hockey for the past four years serving as a head coach for the Black Bear Elite Field Hockey, LLC in Orono, Maine.

Smith was a four-year letterwinner as forward for the Eagles from 2010-13, and was one of the greatest players to wear a Husson uniform in program history.

The four-time All-North Atlantic Conference (NAC) selection helped guide Husson to a 43-31 overall record, the best four-year mark in program history, with back-to-back NAC Championships and NCAA Championship tournament appearances in 2010 and 2011, and the program’s first NAC Regular Season title and a runner-up finish in 2012.

In 73 games career played, Vaillancourt scored 68 goals, tallied 18 assists for 154 points off 342 shots with 15 game-winning goals.

Smith is the program’s all-time career leading scorer as she ranks first in goals, points, game-winning goals, shots attempted, shots on goal (231), shots per game (4.68), and shots on goal per game (3.16) and is ranked second in goals per game (0.93), third in points per game (2.11), games played, sixth in assists and tenth in assists per game (0.25).

As a junior, Smith posted her best season in a Husson uniform, when she tallied a single-season record of 26 goals with five assists for a single-season record of 57 points off a single-season record of 133 shots, while setting the single-game records for most goals scored with five in the NAC Championship game vs. Castleton on November 3, 2012 and for the most shots attempted (13) vs. New England College on September 28, 2012 en-route to being named Husson’s Clara Swan Female Athlete of the Year.

In 2013, as a senior, she rebroke her single-game mark for most shots attempted with 16 vs. Rivier on September 29th. Following the season, Smith became the first player in program history to be selected to play in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game.

She is a three-time NFHCA All-New England Region selection, a four-time NAC All-Tournament pick, and was named the NAC Rookie of the Year in 2010.

Smith is also the first Eagle in program history to be named All-American (2012, 2013) and to earn All-New England honors from NFHCA and is one of two players in program history to achieve All-Conference honors all four years.

Off the field, Smith was a member of three field hockey squads that were named NFHCA Division III All-Academic Teams.
