BANGOR, Maine – Junior Morgan Clifford notched a top-5 performance to lead the Husson University women's cross country team to a third place finish in the Husson Harrier Invitational at Saxl Park in Bangor, Maine on Saturday.
Clifford finished the 4.67 kilometer race in 21:18 which placed her 5th. She was followed by her teammates Lindsey Joliat and Heidi Ntengeri who finished 8th and 10th respectively in 21:42 and 21:46. Samantha Martin, who was the fourth Eagle runner to finish in the top15, crossed the line with a 22:16 good for 13th. Kelly Kashian finished 16th in 23:31 to round out the scoring for Husson.
Other Eagles who ran on the day were Stephanie Adamczyk who finished 23rd in 24:27, Madison Cole placed 25th with a 25:19, followed by Erica Thrailkill in 26th with a 25:26. Shannon Staples ran a 25:49 good for 28th, Paige Rainford placed 30th with a 25:54, while Krista Hooper, Shannon Bunce, and Amanda Marcus completed the course in 25:59, 27:15 and 27:45 for a 31st, 34th and 35th place finishes.
Caillie McGuire from University of New Brunswick at Fredericton won the race with a time of 19:39. Saint Joseph's (Maine) won the meet with 37 points, followed by New Brunswick-Fredericton with 41, and Husson with 52.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Bowdoin Invitational.
