BANGOR, Maine - Husson volleyball head coach Pat DeBeck and his coaching staff are proud to announce that current juniors Hanna Hembrow and Mary Grace Power will serve as the captains for the upcoming 2019 season.
Coach DeBeck on the captains:
"I have been rooting for these players to take this next step. Both of them have had to do some maturing over the years at Husson, but I feel they are in the right place in their senior year, they balance out each other.
We have asked more of them in a tough 2018 season, to be leaders without being a captain, is sometimes one of the hardest things to do. Mary Grace and Hanna have earned the respect of their team. Now, they have to have the humility that goes with being a leader. As members of SAAC, the Leadership Council and now new volleyball captains, they will be tested on a daily basis. 2019 will be a good year, on and off the court, with MG and Hanna leading us."
Hembrow has been a key player during her career at Husson, earning NAC First-Team All-Conference and two NAC Rookie of the Week recognitions in her freshman year. She also achieved NAC Second-Team All-Conference recognition following her junior season. In 81 career matches, Hembrow has accumulated 176 kills, 137 service aces, 583 digs, and 66 total blocks. As the setter, she's set up 1,317 kills throughout three years on the court.
Power has been a consistent and dependable player since stepping foot on the court at Husson. She's played in a total of 76 matches for the Eagles, racking up 403 kills, 58 aces, and 360 digs to help tally 478 points prior to starting her senior season.
These players will look to use their experience and leadership as a way to help the program grow for the upcoming 2019 season.
