Women's Volleyball Sinks Clippers

MACHIAS, Maine – Husson women's volleyball (3-12) took down the University of Maine-Machias Clippers (4-16) in four sets on the road Tuesday evening. 

Husson 3 – UMaine-Machias 1 (25-11, 25-13. 17-25, 25-9)

Mary Grace Power led the Eagles on the attack hitting double digits with a season high of 10 kills. Kate Woods added on four kills and five digs to the victory while Katelyn McKenzie also contributed five digs of her own. Hanging around the net, Serena Laro put up three solo blocks and a pair of block assists while teammate Kayli Doten stopped two attacks on her own. Going on a run behind the end line, Hanna Hembrow sent over an impressive six aces while also putting up the only assists for Husson with 24 by the end of the night. 

On the other side of the net, Kalyn Otto sent over some powerful serves as she racked up four aces along with her 11 digs on defense. On the attack, both Shawna Monk and Colleen Kostovick smacked down four kills apiece while Kostovick also played some defense going up for two blocks along with teammate Alexis Prescott. Multiple players contributed in setting up the attack, but Reese Thompson racked up the most with six assists. 

The Eagles will kick off North Atlantic Conference action this weekend with two matches on Saturday, October 13th at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. Husson will face NVU-Johnson first at 12:00 p.m. followed by the Hornets at 4:00 p.m.
