BANGOR, Maine – The Eagles (2-12) captured a commanding win on Wednesday evening, sweeping all three sets out from under Unity College (2-10) in Newman Gym.
Husson 3 – Unity 0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-16)
As a team, Husson accumulated a total of 22 service aces and 27 kills while every single Eagle contributed to the win on the court. Hitting a season high of .625, Riley Mooers crushed five kills without any errors in just one set. Leading her team in kills, Caelyn Sheil smashed down seven. Over half the team contributed in digging the ball, but Hanna Hembrow led all Eagles in digs with seven. The junior also achieved a career-high nine aces in one match and put up 20 assists. Adrienne Beatty also helped out from behind the end line, sending over four aces while Amber Lemay and Mary Grace Power added on three apiece. Hitting an impressive .500, Karimah Land tallied three kills along with two other Eagles.
Unity played the same six players throughout all three sets with Emily MacDonald leading her team in kills with five. She was also one of the only players to successfully block the ball against the Eagles, along with Cyndle Turcotte. Turcotte also added on nine digs while Kaylee Lyon tacked on seven digs and two kills. MacDonald and Taylor Merrick were the lone Rams to help put an immediate point on the board with an ace each.
Husson women's volleyball will take nearly a week off after back-to-back nights of games, with a match on Tuesday, October 9th at 6:30 p.m. on the home court of UMaine-Machias.
