Women's Volleyball Defeats UMaine-Presque Isle, 3-1

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University volleyball team defeated UMaine-Presque Isle, 3-1, on Wednesday night in the Newman Gymnasium. The Eagles defeated by scores of 25-12, 25-23, 25-17 with one set loss score of 17-25.

Nia Arranaga and Mary Grace Power paced the Eagles with nine kills each out of the 41 total team kills. Arranaga also tallied eight serving aces and eight digs while Power added nine digs and two serving aces. Bailey Cote contributed in the win with eight kills, three serving aces and eleven digs.

Riley Mooers recorded 21 of the 39 assists in the four sets while also contributing four kills and eleven digs. On the defensive end, Mooers, Cote and Chapman contributed a combined total of 33 digs of the 70 total.

The Eagles edged out the Owls in kills (41-36), assists (39-36) and then overpowered them in serving aces (19-6).

Husson returns to the court Saturday, September 23 when they travel to Colby-Sawyer for 11:00 a.m. match against Colby-Sawyer and a 1:00 p.m. match against Amherst (N.H).
