Women's Volleyball Finishes 2-2 at the SJC Autumn Invitational

STANDISH, Maine – Husson University (7-2) defeated Maine-Presque Isle (3-4), 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 25-13), in the SJC Autumn Invitational consolation contest. 

Earlier in the day, Saint Joseph's topped Husson, 3-1 (25-20, 25-20, 25-22).

The Monks trailed early in all three sets but managed to pull off a sweep with the help of seven blocks and eight service aces. Sophomore Kelsey Bickford (Somersworth, N.H.) registered 12 kills while senior Jordynne Copp (Cumberland, Maine) contributed 10 kills and four block solos in the victory.

Junior Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) added 24 digs, junior Sarah Dyer (Seabrook, N.H.) tallied 27 assists, eight digs, and a pair of aces, and freshman Sophia Randall (Epping, N.H.) chipped in with four aces and nine digs.

For the Eagles, junior Kaitlyn Woods (Charlton, Mass.) posted a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs, sophomore Hanna Hembrow (Milford, N.H.) added four kills, 19 assists, and seven digs, and sophomore Katelyn McKenzie (Saco, Maine) posted a team-high 14 digs.

Husson 3, Maine-Presque Isle 1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-20, 25-13)

Sophomore Riley Mooers (Mount Desert, Maine) recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs as well as three aces to help the Eagles defeat the Owls for the second time in as many days and claim the SJC Autumn Invitational Consolation match. Senior Nia Arranaga (San Jose, Calif.) boasted nine kills and a .227 attack ra te with three aces and four total blocks, Hembrow and Bailey Cote (Biddeford, Maine) chipped in with eight kills apiece, and Delaney Chisholm (Tewksbury, Mass.) contributed 23 digs in the victory. Hembrow added 28 assists and 12 digs to an impressive stat line.

For the Owls, Washinawatok tallied nine kills and 10 digs, Taylor Johnson (Eagle, Idaho) tacked on six kills and 10 digs, and Galvan and Williams both posted 18 digs in the setback.
