Eagles Finish Third in Husson Invite

BANGOR, Maine - The Eagles finished third in the 3rd Annual Husson Invitational inside Newman Gymnasium over the weekend with a record of 3-2.

The Eagles won their first match 3-0 over Unity (1-4) and lost the second to Maine-Fort Kent (7-1), 3-1 on Friday night before coming back on Saturday to defeat Maine-Presque Isle (1-4), 3-0, and Maine-Machias (1-4), 3-0, while losing in straight sets to Michigan-Dearborn (6-4).

Mary Grace Power led the way with 38 kills in 143 attempts, Bailey Cote added 30 in 76 attempts and Lindsay Chapman contributed 31 in 110 attempts. Nia Arranaga had 18 aces in the tournament. Hanna Hembrow had 115 assists on the weekend as she put the ball where the hitters could succeed. Husson's defense was also solid with Sarah Wilson, Katelyn McKenzie and Marissa Tautimer all shared libero duties. Wilson averaged 6.50 digs per set, McKenzie averaged 2.10 digs per set and Tautimer 2.33 digs per set on the weekend. Cote recorded a team high 10 blocks (8 solos, 2 assisted).

Power broke the single-game school record for most attempts in a four set match with 44 versus Maine-Fort Kent on Friday evening.

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to Maine-Machias for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game.
