Eagles' Have Record-Setting Day on Day Two of 2015 New England Division III Championships

Cambridge, MA - On day two of the 2015 New England Division III Championships at MIT five Husson University women's outdoor track & field athletes complete in 6 differents events. The Eagles finished tied for 30th place overall with a point total of 2.

MIT won the championship with 180 points, Williams finished second with 89 points and Tufts took third with 63.5 points. WPI (47) and Bowdoin (40) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Erin Ellison started the day off for the Eagles with a near personal record in the shot put with a distance of 10.35m which placed her 22nd overall. She also took a 15th place in the hammer with a distance of 41.68m.

Alecia Palmer set a personal and school records in the Steeple with a time of 11:37.21 placing her 9th overall and missing all NE honors by one second. Her time qualifies her for the ECAC Track Meet..

Kerianne Downing continued her great heptathlon performance completing the Long Jump, Javelin and 800. In her final event of the heptathlon which is the 800, she set a 10 second personal record. With four personal records in four of the 7 events, Downing set a new school record in the event with 3800 points and earned her first All New England award with her 7th overall place.

Brooke Hoople set a season best in the 400 running 59.72. She took 10th and just missed repeating all NE honors by less than a second.

Sarah LaPlante finished 17th place in the Javelin with a distance of 32.61m.
