Brunswick, ME - The Husson University women's outdoor track and field team completed in the Bowdoin College Tri-Meet on Saturday. The Eagles were led by strong performances from Erin Bolduc, Erin Ellison, Chrissy Larrabee, and Katherine Thibault. The team's 46 point performance put them in second place of the four teams on the women's side. Bowdoin won the meet with 87.50 points.
Ellison took 3rd in the Hammer Throw and qualified for the DIII New England Championship meet in the event, while setting a personal and school record with a distance of 40.18 meters. Faith Burnett also set a personal record in the event by several meters and placed 7th overall with a distance of 31.18 meters.
Husson swept the top 3 places in the long jump with Thibault finishing 1st, Bolduc 2nd and Sam Martin 3rd and taking second through fourth place in the in the Shot put, when Burnett finished 2nd with a collegiate personal record, Ellison was 3rd and Maggie McDonald was 4th.
Bolduc also had outstanding performances in the 200 and 100 meter hurdles, taking 3rd place in both events.
Larrabee won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:24.22 and finished 2nd in the 1500 with a time of 5:03.28.
Husson also completed in the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational at Fitchburg State University on Saturday. The Eagles were led by Sarah LaPlante, who took 5th place in the Javelin but was 3rd for college athletes and Alecia Palmer who finished 4th in the steeple and then placed 17th of 62 in the 1500 less than an hour after the steeple.
Husson will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Waterville for the Colby College Invitational.
