Women's Track and Field Performs Well in First Outdoor Meet of Season

CONWAY, SC - The Husson University women's outdoor track and field team performed well in the Eagles' first meet of the outdoor season at the Coastal Carolina Invitational over the weekend.

Leading the way for Husson was Sarah LaPlante (Wallingford, CT) who placed ninth in the javelin with a throw of 125-05, which qualified her for the New England and ECAC Championships.

Also performing well in the throws for Husson was Margaret McDonald (Bangor, ME), who won her flight and took 25th overall with a discus throw of 99-10.

In the field events, Katherine Thibault (Stratham, NH) and Erin Bolduc (Augusta, ME) took 10th and 11th, respectively, in the long jump with leaps of 15-07 and 15-06, which were personal records for both athletes. Kerianne Downing (Dedham, MA) was 10th in her flight in the high jump with a mark of 4-09

In the running events Chrissy Larrabee (Brooks, ME) placed second in the open 800 with a time of 2:26.54 while Paige Rainford (Hampden, ME) was ninth in the 400 meter hurdles, in her first time competing in the event, with a time of 1:23.29.

"It was a great start to the 2015 season and the coaching staff is excited to see the full squad run at the first New England meet at Mount Holyoke in two weeks," said Husson head coach Kate Goupee.
Husson continues its season on March 28 at the Mount Holyoke Spring Fling Invitational.
