Myrtle Beach, SC - Three members of Husson's women's outdoor track and field team dropped collegiate personal records as the team competed in the Coastal Carolina Invitational at Doug Shaw Stadium on Saturday. The meet featured 28 collegiate institutions across all NCAA divisions as well as four club teams.
First year Kateri Jeffrey (South Portland, ME) ran a 2:42.99 in the 800 meter run finals for a new collegiate best. In the same event, junior captain Molly Frankinburger finished right behind her in 2:48.55 for her own personal record.
Husson teammate Kristen Lawrence (Manchester, NH) qualified for the 200 meter dash finals with a time of 28.90 seconds, which was her collegiate personal record in that event. Lawrence also competed in the 100 meter dash.
Coming off a big performance the day before, Sarah LaPlante (Wallingford, CT) led the Husson throwers in the shot put (24th overall, 9.61m) and the discus (27th overall, 28.14m). Paige McNaughton (Randolph, ME) and Diana Kruszewski (Auburn, ME) also competed in the shot put, and McNaughton threw the discus, as well.
Megan Darcy (Center Conway, NH) and Dem Rideout (Norway, ME) represented the Eagles in the 100 meter dash, Kendra Jackson (Waterboro, ME) ran the 200 meter dash, and Rideout also competed in the 100 meter hurdles—all gaining valuable experience for Husson early in the outdoor season.
Husson track and field will next compete in Mount Holyoke College's Spring Fling Invitational in South Hadley, MA on March 30, 2013.
