Women's Track Performs Well at Bates Invitational

LEWISTON, ME – The Husson University women's indoor track and field team had a solid day at the Bates Invitational on Saturday. 

Faith Burnett improved her personal record in the weight throw by .56 meters, throwing 9.68 meters to place 13th and also threw 8.88 meters in the shot put to take 11th

Courtney Lizotte (Bangor, ME) took fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 9-06.25 while Brooke Hoople (Bedford, NH) took 10th in the 60-meter dash with a school-record time of 8.44.

Casey Modrey (Bangor, ME) had an impressive meet, taking fourth in the high jump with a leap of 4-06.00, fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 30-10.50 and fifth in the long jump with 15-02.75.

Katherine Thibault (Stratham, NH) took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 14-07.00 while Erin Bolduc (Augusta, ME) was eighth with 14-05.00.

Alecia Palmer (Presque Isle, ME) improved 13 seconds off her time last week with a mark of 5:50.52 in the mile to take 10th in the event.

The team took fifth with 27.50 points.
Husson head coach Kate Goupee said of the meet "it was outstanding to see many of our athletes improve as they work to qualify for the championship meets, and prepare for outdoor track."

The women's track and field team returns to action on Jan. 31 at the Southern Maine Invitational.
