Cindi Howard enters her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Husson women's tennis team in 2018-19.
Since joining the inaugural coaching staff, Howard has helped the Eagles post a 22-13 (.629) overall record and a 20-9 (.690) mark versus conference foes with two NAC Runner-Up finishes in 2016 and 2017, while coaching four All-Conference Singles, eight All-Conference Doubles, three Conference All-Sportsmanship, 16 Conference All-Academic, nine ITA Scholar Athlete selections and one Conference Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Howard has been the head coach for the boy's varsity tennis team and the head girl's varsity swimming & diving coach at Bangor High School since 2001.
Howard coached a girl's varsity team in San Diego, Calif., for three years and has over 35 years of experience teaching private tennis lessons.
As an active member in the local tennis community, Howard has developed the Bangor boy's tennis program into one with a large roster size which includes a JV team. She also organizes tennis clinics to promote the sport to both middle school and high school students.
Howard has won three Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) Championships, five Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference (KVAC) Championships and five KVAC Regional Championships. She was voted Coach Of The Year four times in the PVC and three times in the KVAC.
Howard has a strong playing background that includes collegiate play at both San Diego City College and San Diego State University. She continues to play USTA league tennis.
Howard earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from San Diego State University in 1982.
A native of San Diego, Calif., Howard attended Herbert Hoover High School.
