Women's Tennis Flies Past Hornets, 9-0

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. - The Eagles continued their successes in Vermont, defeating Northern Vermont University-Lyndon (1-8, 1-3 NAC) for the second time this season, 9-0, to improve their overall record to 7-0 and 3-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday morning.

Husson took control of the match with three dominant wins in doubles.  The Eagles picked up 8-0 decisions in first and third flights, while the Husson duo of Natalie Tilton and Hannah Malinen defeated Lyndon's Melissa Calabro and Roze Yar, 8-1, in second doubles. Grabbing the 8-0 victories for the Eagles were pairs, Meridith Blessard, Ashley Matlock and Jocelyn Bell, Marisa Brown

The Eagles sustained their momentum into singles play.  Husson's #1 Matlock, was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Lyndon's Savannah Jackson in first singles, while Tilton defeated Faibe Achinda 6-0, 6-1 in second flight.  Calabro was the only Hornet to win more than a game, as she fell to Malinen 6-1, 6-2 in third singles.  The Eagles picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins in fourth, fifth, and sixth singles as Julia O'Leary, Nicci Munroe, and Bell helped complete the sweep.

Husson women's tennis will stay overnight in Vermont for one final day of regular season action before playoffs commence. At 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 30th, the Eagles will face Northern Vermont-Johnson on their home courts for NAC action.
