HAMPDEN, Maine – With an 8-1 victory over Lesley University (1-6, 1-1 NAC), the Husson women's tennis team extended their winning streak and season record to 5-0 (2-0 NAC) as they tied the longest winning and undefeated streak in program history. With this win, the Eagles have also beat every single team in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) this season.
Due to some unfortunate weather, the match had to be moved from the Bangor High School courts outside to an inside location in Hampden at the Armstrong Tennis Center.
The Lynx put up a strong fight as the duo of Theresa Perira and Sara Stanton took Meridith Blessard and Ashley Matlock beyond eight points before the Eagles distanced themselves by two points to win 9-7. Lesley's Maddie Abbott and Jessica Russo scored a few points on Natalie Tilton and Hannah Malinen before the pair of Eagles took over 8-4. In the final pairing, Jocelyn Bell and Marisa Brown defeated Mary Pulling and Annie Dai, 8-1.
In singles action, Malinen and Nicci Munroe both captured the exact same scores as they took down Lynx Stanton and Sara Tobin, 6-1, 6-3.
