BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's tennis program is pleased to announce two more commitments for the 2018 season, Natalie Tilton from Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln, Maine, and Rheylan Burke from Old Town High School in Old Town, Maine.
Natalie Tilton was a varsity tennis player at Mattanawcook Academy. She was the captain and #1 single. The Lincoln, Maine, native will study occupational therapy in the fall.
"Natalie is not only an excellent tennis player, but an exceptional person and leader. In her time at Mattanawcook Academy, she has excelled and played a prominent role in three Penobscot Valley Championships, as well as a Northern Maine Championship. Individually, she had advanced to the State Singles Tournament as a top seed in the Northern Region." Coach Ward, her high school coach, went on to say, "Natalie has built a positive legacy that is founded upon persistence and loyalty. Natalie is equipped with great skill, humility, drive, and character. Husson is getting a winner both on and off the court."
Rheylan Burke was a varsity tennis player at Old Town High School. She was the #1 single for her team. Burke has been accepted into the pre-law program at Husson University.
Drew Myers, Rheylan's high school coach, was quoted saying, "Rheylan is at her best when she is on the run. When you think you hit the ball past her, she tracks it down and comes up with a great shot."
The Eagles made a tremendous run in the conference tournament until it came to an end in the conference championship match to now conference champion Colby-Sawyer College. They will look to repeat their 2017 success in 2018 with their new commitments.
