Women's Tennis Drops Match at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine - The Husson University women's tennis team fell, 9-0, at Colby College on Saturday afternoon for the Eagles lone match of the spring season.

The Mules opened up the day sweeping the Eagles 3-0 in doubles action. The first pair, Meridith Blessard and Sarah Smith, dropped the match, 8-1, to Alex Piibe and Emily Dyckman. Colby's Jamie Pine and Kahler Mabbs defeated Samantha Dubay and Elizabeth Adley, 8-0. Putting up a battle, Husson's Jocelyn Bell and Marisa Brown took an unfortunate fall, 8-3, to Hania Lenderking and Molly Higgins.

In singles action, Blessard nearly overcame Piibe in the first set, but fell just short, 6-4, and 6-0 in the following set. Smith dropped both sets to Dyckman, 6-0 and 6-2.Brown was swept by Pine, 6-0 in each set. Colby's Mabbs took down Adley in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Dubay lost both sets, 6-0, to Lenderking. In the final matchup, Bell put up a couple points in each set against Higgins, but fell 6-2 and 6-3.
