Women's Tennis Closes Out Regular Season With Win Over Southern Maine

BANGOR, Maine - Husson posted a 8-1 win over Southern Maine in a non-conference match-up to close out their fall regular season schedule on Wednesday afternoon at Bangor High School.

Husson (7-2) won five of six singles matches. Meridith Blessard defeated Deb Attalla 8-3, while Charlotte Bednarz took care of Liz Martin 8-5. Kelsey Pelletier defeated Rikki Demoranville 8-4. Marisa Brown dispatched Courtney Jordan 6-1. Samantha Dubay defeated Margaret Smith 8-5. The lone win for Southern Maine (1-8) was on the No. 2 line when Mackenzie Colby defeated Katie Pratt 8-1.

In doubles action, Blessard and Pratt defeated Attalla and Martin 8-3. Bednarz and Smith took care of Colby and Jordan 8-3. Pelletier and Brown dropped Demoranville and Gabby Brooks 8-3.

The Eagles will travel to Castleton on Saturday to face the second seeded Badgers of Johnson State in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division Championship Tournament semifinal match-up at 10:00 a.m. The Huskies return home to face Salem State on Saturday in their final home match-up this season.
