Eagles Defeat Green Mountain on Homecoming, 9-0

BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University (4-1, 3-1) women's tennis team defeated Green Mountain College (0-6, 0-3) by a score of 9-0 in North Eastern Atlantic Conference East play Saturday afternoon at Bangor High School. 

No 1. doubles Sarah Smith and Charlotte Bednarz opened up play as they defeated Paige Vlahos and Alex Reedy of Green Mountain, 8-2. Meredith Blessard and Samantha Dubay won against the team of Claire Chapman and Jannelle O'Connell 8-2, while Kelsey Pelletier and Marisa Brown had the closest doubles match of the day beating Ruby Santiago and Leng Wann, 8-4. 

The Husson Eagles swept the singles board in straight sets as No 1. singles Blessard defeated O'Connell 6-1, 6-0. Smith took down Vlahos 6-0, 6-1. Bednarz swept Reedy 6-0, 6-4. Pelletier had the closest match of the day as she won against Chapman in two sets 6-3, 6-2. Brown defeated Santiago 6-2, 6-0 and Dubay defeated Leng Wann 6-0, 6-0. 

Husson will host Castleton tomorrow at 10:00 am at Bangor High School, while Green Mountain will make the trip to Thomas for an 11:00 am start.
