KINGSTON, RI – The Husson University men's and women's swimming and diving teams had several good performance during day one of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Championships, highlighted by Tim Smith's (Bangor, ME) title win in the one-meter dive.
Smith scored 460.95 points to easily outdistance the runner-up and claim his second-consecutive NEISDA title. Teammate Carl Pillitteri (Belfast, ME) claimed seventh with a score of 278.30.
Grant Gerber (Portland, ME) took 10th in the 50 breaststroke with a finals time of 29.63. He set the school-record in the prelims with a time of 29.52.
Connor Winchenbach (Rockport, ME) placed 22nd in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 34.06 while Colin Vidas (Hampden, ME) was 24th with a time of 35.01.
On the women's side, Sarah Klopp (Cape Elizabeth, ME) took 37th in the prelims of the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.93.
The NEISDA Championships continue on Saturday.
