Kingston, RI - On the final day of the 2014 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Swimming & Diving Championships, junior Erin Benner (Morrow, OH) had another standout day for Husson.
Having already qualified for and swum in the finals of the 200 Yard IM on Friday (setting a personal best and winning her finals heat in the process), Benner took on the 50 Yard Back and the 100 Yard IM on Sunday. She swam a 32.06 in the 50 Back preliminaries and missed qualifying for the finals by just two spots.
In the 100 Yard IM preliminaries, she swam a 1:08.39 time to qualify for finals in the 15th spot. She took two-tenths of a second off her prelim time in the finals and swam a 1:08.19 for 14th place overall, earning the Husson team 13 more points for its team score.
Husson's head swimming and diving coach Butch Babin said of Benner's NEISDA Championships performance, "Erin swam very well this weekend and even managed to swim faster in the finals than she did in trials. I'm very proud of her and glad to see that all her hard work throughout the season paid off."
Teammate Sarah Klopp (Cape Elizabeth, ME) also competed in the 100 Yard Freestyle preliminaries to close out the weekend of competition for the Eagles.
