Kingston, RI - Husson University saw a strong performance from Erin Benner (Morrow, OH) on the first day of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Swimming & Diving Championships. The junior captain competed in the 200 Yard IM. She swam a 2:31.63 preliminary time, and qualified for the consolation final. She swam 2:29.22 in the finals to finish 17th overall. Benner's time won her heat, was a personal best for her, and earned Husson's team nine points.
Sarah Klopp (Cape Elizabeth, ME) swam in the 50 Yard Freestyle preliminaries and just missed qualifying for finals with a time of 27.79 seconds.
Klopp will be competing in the 100 Yard Freestyle on Sunday. Benner will return to the pool in the 50 Yard Back and 100 Yard IM.
