Women’s Swimming & Diving Falls Short Against St. Joe’s

Standish, ME – Husson women's swimming and diving fell to Saint Joseph's College of Maine 131-121 Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles, who will face the Monks two more times this season in head to head competition, were dominate in many races but unable to rally enough points to win the meet.

Jilian Boyle (Westport, MA) had a strong showing for the Eagles, finishing 1st in the 100 yard free style, with a time of 1:04.28. Boyle placed second in the 200 yard free style with a time of 2:18.69 and the 50 yard free style with a time of 32.47, less than a second behind teammate Natalie Calligan (Belfast, ME) who also had a strong outing for Husson.

Calligan placed 1st in the 50 yard back stroke with a time of 31.95, 1st in the 100 yard back with a time of 1:09.40 and 1st in the 50 yard fly event with a time of 31.73.

Veteran swimmers, Casey Pray (Bangor, ME), Patience Wilson (Brewer, ME), and Sarah Klopp (Cape Elizabeth, ME) each made huge contributions to the team total with Pray taking two 2nd place finishes in the 50 yard free and 100 yard free events, Wilson grabbed 1st in the 100 yard fly event with a time of 1:15.20, and Klopp snagging first place in the 50 yard free event.

The relay team of Klopp, Pray, Calligan, and Boyle also took first place in the 200 yard free relay with a time of 1:55.96.

The Eagles will continue their training until their next meet when they will host the University of New England, November 16th at 12:00 PM.
