Bangor, ME - Husson's swimming and diving team hosted their season opener on Saturday, beating Maine Machias 155-21. Coach Butch Babin said of the result, "We were able to give our first year women a chance to have a meet under their caps before our big meet with St. Joes of Maine coming up this Saturday. All the women did a fantastic job and put us into a good mindset for the next meet."
Martina Bosse was fabulous in the diving portion of the meet and just missed the New England qualifying score, earning a final score of 124.35.
Megan Call came right out of the gate and made New England cuts in the 100 breast (1:22.10) and 50 breast (37.12). Erin Benner was also very good winning the 50 Back (34.14) and 100IM (1:14.21), while also leading the 200MR and 200Free relays to victory.
Freshman Katrina Aman and Kayleigh Richardson also had nice swims in the 50 Breast and 100 IM respectively. Another freshman Sarah McEachern, a late replacement for Sarah Klopp who was ill, won the 50 Free with a nice come from behind sprint. Also freshman Cilana Cuthbert had the double win in the 200 and 500 free events (2:23.20 and 6:42.76).
