Ireland Earns NAC Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week

WATERVILLE, Maine – Husson freshman Sami Ireland has been named Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week for the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), the league announced Monday.

Ireland was a force between the pipes for the Eagles, as she did not allow one goal through regulation or two overtime periods to secure a draw against New England College. The rookie recorded nine saves through 120 minutes of play, coming up big twice as she came off her line to prevent the Pilgrims frontline from scoring, a team that is averaging two goals per game this season.

The Eagles return to field Saturday, October 21, at 1:00 p.m. for a conference match-up at Green Mountain.
