BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's soccer team pick up a 3-0 victory over Green Mountain College on senior day in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon at Boucher Field to clinch the number two seed in the upcoming NAC Championship Tournament.
Myra Degre broke open a scoreless draw in the 37th minute when she scored the first of her two first half goals Sunday with an assist by Kathryn McGinnis before tallying her second in the 44th minute from Taylor Fortin as Husson (7-7-2, 6-1-2 NAC) entered the intermission with a 2-0 lead.
Fortin's second assist in the game came in 85th minute when she served the ball into the box to Maddie Page, who booted the ball pass the Green Mountain (0-15-1, 0-8-1 NAC) keeper giving Husson the 3-0 victory.
Husson outshot Green Mountain 50-0 to record the team's third 45 plus shot game on the season, the most Husson has ever recorded in a single-season in program history, while tying the school's NAC single-game mark for shots attempted.
Fortin finished with career-high 11 shots, while Degre had five and Clough, Meghan Catanese and McGinnis each took four.
Husson will host the winner of the Colby-Sawyer / Maine-Farmington NAC quarterfinal contest on Wednesday, November 2 for the right to advance to the NAC Championship game. Green Mountain concludes their season.
