Henniker, N.H. – New England College women's soccer battled visiting Husson University to a 2-2 double-overtime game Saturday afternoon.
With the tie the Pilgrims remain undefeated in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play improving to 5-0-1 in conference and 9-5-1 overall. The tie improves the Eagles to 6-6-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the NAC.
Husson would strike first as Hannah Clough would rebound in a shot assisted by Sydney Costa just 15 minutes into the contest. NEC would come through with the equalizer with the just three minutes remaining in the opening half as Rachel Thomas would strike a corner and teammate Tara Bainbridge would head in the ball notching her second goal of the season.
NEC would go up 2-1 in the 72nd minute of play as Jess Dowson would send a free-kick into the box and junior forward Jaycie Triandafilou would redirect it into the net notching her seventh goal of the season. The lead would be short lived as Husson would come back in the next minute as Taylor Fortin would get a head on a corner from Lexi Crawford, knotting the game at 2-2.
Neither team would muster an overtime goal as the Pilgrims finished the contest out shooting the Eagles 13-6.
NEC's Mackenzie Meegan finished the game with three saves.
Husson's Kayla Gordon tallied eight saves on the afternoon.
New England College will close out their regular season home schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 18 when they host conference opponent Green Mountain College.
Husson will hit the field again on Sunday, Oct. 16 when they host Maine-Fort Kent.
