BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Husson University fell to The University of New England 4-0 in non-conference women's soccer action Wednesday evening (Sept. 7) at Barbara J. Hazard Field. The win pushes the Nor'easters' early-season record to 2-0, while the Eagles drops to 1-2.
The Eagles were lead by Leah Hibbad who had three shots, Hannah Clough with two, and Taylor Fortin, Ryleigh Lord, and Mollie Roy with one shot each. Kayla Gordon was in the net and notched down 15 saves on the night.
UNE received first-half goals from Taylor Littlefield Langevin, Jessica Meader, and Ashley Sherman. Littlefield Langevin knocked home a rebound of her own shot that was initially saved, while Meader converted a header off a service from the right flank by Edie Pallozzi. Sherman capped the first-half scoring in the 40th minute on a rebound after Lizzie Sullivan had a shot that was denied.
Pallozzi notched the lone goal of the second frame, receiving a pass from Brionne Turcotte (SR/Goffstown, N.H.) in the center of the field and taking a few touches before drilling home a shot into the right side of the goal.
The Eagles are back in action on Sunday when they host Colby College for a 1 p.m. kickoff. UNE opens Commonwealth Coast Conference play Saturday at Western New England University at 12:00 p.m.
