Eagles Finish Third in Husson Classic With Victory Over Owls

BANGOR, Maine – Husson picked up its sixth straight win over Maine-Presque Isle after a 5-1 triumph Sunday at Boucher Field to finish third overall in the 12th Annual Husson Classic.

Leah Hibbad put the Eagles on the board first when Mollie Roy found her in the 10th minute before Hannah Clough (Hibbad) (12:04), Maddie Page (19:46), Arianna McKinnon (Brooke LaBelle) (22:13) and Hibbad from Lexi Crawford gave Husson (1-1) the 5-0 advantage heading in the intermission.

Morgan Roy scored at the 50:26 mark to give Maine-Presque (0-2) their first goal versus Husson in 15 years.

Goalies Kayla Gordon, Jordyn Hopkins, Kendra Howard and Gabi Martin all split time in the Eagle cage. They combined to make five saves. Gordon was credited with the win.

Alison Lopez, Mariah Lafleur and Megan Jellison made 13 stops while splitting time in the net for the Owls. Lopez was credited with the loss.

 The Eagles outshot the Owls 25-9 and took a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Roy, Hibbad and Page were named to the All-Tournament Team along with Western New England's Brooke Labrie (MVP), Marielle Caron, Marissa Veilleux and Samantha Emmert, Saint Joseph's Sarah Comtois, Brooke Troup and Emily DeLuca, and Maine-Presque Isle's Carla Halvorson and Autumn Poulin.

Husson will travel to University of New England on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference game and Maine-Presque Isle will return to action on Saturday, September 10th when they host Maine Maritime in their home opener at 12:30 p.m.
