Eagles Lose Heartbreaker to Monks in Overtime

BANGOR, Maine – Sarah Comtois' golden goal in the 97th minute of overtime lifted Saint Joseph's (Maine) to a 4-3 victory over Husson on Saturday evening at Boucher Field on day one of the 12th Annual Husson Classic.

Mollie Roy tallied the game's first goal in the 25th minute of play before making a nice touch pass to  Lexi Crawford giving Husson (0-1) an early 2-0 lead.

Saint Joseph's (1-0) responded right back when Emily Thornton found Comtois at the 41:47 mark cutting the Eagle lead to one at the intermission.

Leah Hibbad opened the second half scoring with her first of year in the 49th minute off Roy's second assist of the game.

The Monks tied the game on back-to-back goals from Hannah Butler (59:20) and Haley DaGraca (77:12) before Comtois tallied the game-winner in the 97th minute.

Angela Daigle stopped nine of the 13 shots she faced in the loss. Brooke Troup tallied 6 saves in the win.

The Monks outshot the Eagles 30-18.

Husson will take on Maine-Presque Isle tomorrow for a 1:00 p.m. game on day two of the 12th Annual Husson Classic and Saint Joseph's (Maine) will play Western New England at 11:00 a.m. in the first game of the day.
