2016 Women's Soccer Recruiting Class Announced

BANGOR, Maine – Head Coach Amanda Cummings is pleased to announce the women's soccer Class of 2020.

Coach Cummings, who is about to enter her second season as the Husson head women's soccer coach and third year on staff in 2016, welcomes a freshman class totaling seven talented players across the region, hailing from Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.

Last fall, Husson posted an 8-10-1 overall record with a 4-5 mark in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play en route to earning their 17th straight postseason appearance in program history. The sixth seeded Eagles faced third-seeded Maine Maritime Academy in NAC quarterfinal action on October 31st and suffered a season-ending 1-0 setback, resulting in the programs' first lost in a quarterfinal matchup in 11 years.

"The incoming class is going to have a great impact on our team this season," adds Coach Cummings. "Their athleticism, knowledge, and competitiveness is something to look forward too. They will fit in exceptionally well with the returning group and are already dedicated to improving our squad. The coaching staff is excited to get started and see them make their mark on our program in the first year!"

Husson returns 20 players – including three of the 2015's top five scorers in Leah Hibbad, Taylor Fortin, and Hannah Clough – from last year's team and, with the talent and depth provided by the 2020 recruiting class, and will look to capture their first NAC Championship since 2009 this fall.

The Eagles will kick off their season against Saint Joseph's (Maine) for the 12th Annual Husson Classic on Saturday September 3rd, at 6:30 p.m., followed by a contest against Maine-Presque Isle on Sunday September 4th, at 1:00 p.m. at Boucher Field.
