    Bangor, ME - The Husson University women’s soccer team will be traveling to Costa Rica next week as Husson University students and faculty enter spring break. The Eagles will take a nine day trip to Costa Rica, arriving in San José on Saturday, March 3rd, and returning to Bangor on Sunday March 9th. The team will have the opportunity to train and compete in three friendly games while on the trip.
  • Gifford Awarded NCAA Women's Enhancement Program Postgraduate Scholarship

    Indianapolis, IN – The NCAA has released the recipients of the 2012 NCAA Women’s Enhancement Program Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics. The NCAA awards 13 scholarships to female college graduates who will be entering their initial year of postgraduate studies. The winners received a $6,000 nonrenewable award to be used for postgraduate study during the 2012-13 academic year in a sports-related program. These programs were developed by the NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics and the winners are all seeking admission or have been accepted into a sports administration or related program that will help them obtain a career in intercollegiate athletics, such as athletics administrator, coach, athletic trainer or other career that provides a direct service to intercollegiate athletics.

    Whittingham, VT - Three members of the Husson women's soccer team were honored by the North Atlantic Conference. Seniors Alexandra Laniewski and Amanda Gifford were named to the NAC First Team, while Sophomore Midfielder Marcella Francoeur was named to the 2nd team.

    Bangor, ME – The Husson University athletics department is thrilled to announce this year’s recipients of the inaugural Male and Female Student Athlete of the Year awards. Under the new direction of Athletic Director Bob Reasso, the athletics department will begin to honor a male and female athlete who exemplify what it means to be a Husson Eagle. This year, two women have each separated themselves from the pack and are each deserving candidates of the inaugural female athlete of the year award. Cross Country runner Angela Stauble and 3 sport athlete – Soccer, Basketball and Softball – Amanda Gifford are each the recipients of the 2011 Female Athlete of the Year Award. Kyle Vanidestine, who plays both Football and Baseball at Husson, has been named the 2011 Male Athlete of the Year.

    CAMBRIDGE, MA – MIT scored its first goal in the third minute and then scored twice more before the half as the Engineers went on to score a 5-1 win over Husson University in non-conference women’s soccer action at Steinbrenner Stadium. Junior Emily Kuo (Chicago, IL) scored the first two goals of the game and added an assist to lead MIT to the win. The Engineers improved to 11-3-2 with their fourth straight victory while Husson fell to 7-11.

    NEWLONDON, NH - The Husson University women's soccer team was unable to score, and lost 1-o to Colby-Sawyer who remains unbeaten in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). The Chargers, who registered their ninth shutout of the season, improve to 11-5-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the NAC. The 11 wins ties a single season school record for wins. Husson drops to 7-10 overall and to 6-3 in the conference.

    Bangor, ME - The rain fell harder and harder as the game went on, but it didn't dampen the Eagles' spirits as they were elated after winning the final home game of the 2011 regular season 1-0 over the visiting Beavers of the University of Maine at Farmington. With the win, Husson improves to 6-2 in the North Atlantic Conference (7-9 overall), while UMF drops to 3-4-1 in NAC play.

    Poultney, VT – On Sunday, October 16, the Green Mountain College Eagles women’s soccer team played host to the visiting Husson University Eagles. The home side suffered a 7-1 loss at the hands of the opposing Eagles. The loss gives GMC a 2-9-1 record overall and a 1-6 record in conference games. The Husson Eagles run their record to 6-9 overall, while their conference record improves to 5-2.

The Eagles controlled the game for the most part, and held off a late comeback attempt to earn the victory. With the win, Husson improves to 4-8 on the season and 3-2 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. Lyndon falls to 7-4 on the year (2-2 NAC) with the loss.

    Castine, ME – Amanda Gifford (Lee, ME) tallied a hat trick that included the game-winner as Husson handed Maine Maritime a 6-1, North Atlantic Conference (NAC) loss at Ritchie Field on Sunday. The Eagles (2-7, 1-1 NAC) fell behind early, but scored six unanswered on the Mariners (0-7, 0-2 NAC).
