LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Eagles were unstoppable on Saturday afternoon out in Vermont as they took down the Lyndon State Hornets 15-3. This win improved the Eagle's record to 4-6 (3-4 NAC).
Husson goalie Kaitlin Dolloff and midfielder Mariah Carrier led their team to victory while Dolloff stopped nine shots, only giving up three, and Carrier scored four of her own against Lyndon (0-7, 0-6 NAC).
The Hornets struck first, as Danielle Kuiper sunk a shot in the back of the net to go up 1-0 within the first three minutes of the game. It took the Eagles a couple minutes to respond, but at 24:34, Makenna Mont placed her first goal of the day in the net unassisted. Husson then continued on a six-goal streak as Mont saw her second goal of the half, leaving the Eagles up 6-1. With just 1:27 left to go in the first half, the Hornets offense snuck past the Eagles' defense as Carmen Mears passed the ball to Mikayla Hodge for their second goal. Carrier then squeezed in a goal with a mere nine seconds to halftime, putting Husson in the lead 7-2 going into the second half.
Husson's offense was on top of their game putting away six more unanswered goals until Sydney Kipp tossed one in the goal with 6:24 left in the game. In the final minutes, the Eagles added on two more goals to capture the 15-3 win.
The Eagles scored an impressive 3-for-4 free position shots with both goalies making nine saves apiece on the day. Mattie Russell contributed three goals while Amanda Deshaies led in ground balls (4) and caused a season high of seven turnovers.
Husson women's lacrosse will have a short recovery time as they play in their Senior Game tomorrow at home, Sunday, April 23rd against Johnson State at 12pm.
