BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's lacrosse team fell to Castleton University, 10-2 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at John P. Boucher Field on Saturday afternoon.
Husson (2-5, 1-2 NAC) drops their third straight game at home while Castleton (6-4, 4-0 NAC) extends their winning streak to four.
The Spartans built a 3-0 lead on goals by Brianna MacKay and two from Brandi Whittemore before Alissa Fallon put one pass Castleton's keeper Meghan Els for an unassisted goal at the 11:21 mark of the first half.
Two goals by MacKay and a goal by Grace Johnson made the game 6-1 going into the intermission.
Castleton received second half goals from Danielle Pickard and three from Mackay for the 10-2 victory. Mattie Russell scored the lone goal for the Eagles in the half.
For the Eagles, Russell and Fallon each had a goal apiece while Kaitlin Dolloff made 13 saves in the net for Husson. Anna Wolterbeek scooped up a team-high seven groundballs. Cassidy Roderick had four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Amanda Deshaies added three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
MacKay had six goals and four groundballs to lead the Spartans while Whittemore added two goals, one assist, seven ground balls and two draw controls, while Chantel Wilkin dished off two assists.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Keene State for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game. Husson is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Thomas College to face the University of Maine of Farmington in a under the lights conference battle at 7:00 p.m.
