Nashua, NH - Husson University women's lacrosse team picked up their first win on the road against Daniel Webster College with four goals from Mattie Russell (Hope Valley. R.I.) and three from Alissa Fallon (Kennebunk, Maine) on the way to a 15-5 non-conference victory Sunday afternoon at Eagle Field.
Husson picked up its first victory of the season (1-2) while DWC (0-3) remained winless in the early going. Fallon tacked on three assists to finish with six points for Husson, while Amanda Deshaies (Wells, Maine) added two goals and four assists. Theresa Butler (Bridgton, Maine) chipped in with a goal and assisted on two others.
Brittany Tierney (Napean, Ont.) and Madeline Roulier (Pittsfield, Mass.) picked up single goals for DWC. Madison Wood (Suwanee, Ga.) posted 20 saves in goal for Daniel Webster while Katlin Dolloff (Richmond, R.I.) made six saves for Husson.
Husson, which outshot Daniel Webster 35-11 on goal for the day, never trailed taking a 1-0 lead 45 seconds in on Aiken's first of the game before Dargie tied it at one just over five minutes later. But Husson would rattled off five straight to close the half ahead 6-1 and posted the first seven goals of the second period to extend the advantage to 13-1.
DWC got a quick pair back on Tierney and Dargie goals with 14 and 10 minutes remaining, and Fallon answered for Husson with 8:05 left to make it 14-3. Roulier and Dargie would score down the stretch and DeShaies added one for Husson for the 15-5 final.
DWC heads to Connecticut for the next two road games, stopping at Albertus Magnus on Tuesday (7 p.m.) and Saint Joseph on Thursday (4:00 p.m.) before returning home to open their NECC schedule on March 30th against Regis at 4:00 p.m. Husson hosts Colby-Sawyer in their NAC opener next Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
