Bangor, ME – Husson women's lacrosse fell to nationally ranked Colby College Tuesday night 20-2 at Boucher Field.
The Mules jumped out to any early start scoring their first goal during their first possession, less than a minute into the game. Lucy Gerrity snuck a shot pass Eagles goalkeeper Chelsea Kondratowicz (Kingston, ME). Husson countered quickly with their own score less than a minute later making it 1-1.
Unfortunately for the Eagles the lead the Mules extended would be far too much to overcome, scoring 14 goals in the first half.
"It's amazing to see the transformation our team is making every time we play," said Head Coach Jen Johnstone, " Colby is a nationally ranked team that typically competes in the Final Four every year. For our athletes to see that level of play and compete against those athletes helps us learn so much about how to play high level lacrosse."
Grace McVey led the Mules with 3 goals and 2 assists on the night. Danna Swaffield added 2 goals, 2 assists on 2 shots. Paige Pearson had 2 goals, 1 assist, while Catherine Kahl had 1 goal, 2 assists.
Husson goalkeeper Kondratowicz faced 23 shots on the night in the loss for the Eagles
With the loss the Eagles fall to 2-4 (0-1) on the season, and will next play the University of Southern Maine this Sunday, April 7th at 12:00 PM. The match-up between the Eagles and Huskies was originally scheduled for March 19th but was rescheduled.
