Gordon Takes Eagles

Gordon Takes Eagles

Bangor, ME – The Fighting Scots of Gordon College had their way with Husson today, by a final score of 19-6. Jordan Alexander (Portland, ME) led the way for the Scots, netting 7 goals, and added a pair of assists for 9 points to go with 5 ground balls. Husson saw six different goal-scorers, but they each had just the lone tally, and it was not enough to stop the fast pace of Gordon.

Michelle Rancourt (Lewiston, ME) had a game-high 10 ground balls for Husson, while Kim Gambon(Walpole, MA) and Caitlyn Stauffer (Brookfield, CT) each had one goal and one assist on the day. Two points would lead the Eagles as Gordon controlled the ball for much of the game.

For the Scots, Anna Blomberg scored a hat trick, and assisted Alexander to give her 4 points on the day. Krysti Leach (Naples, ME) had two goals and an assist for three points and led Gordon with 9 ground balls. Stephanie Fitzgerald (Groveland, MA) controlled the draw for the Fighting Scots, winning it 12 times.

The Scots scored 10 in a row to start the game, half of them from Alexander, and the writing appeared to be on the wall early. The Eagles weren't so quick to concede the game and Megan Clement (Brunswick, ME) picked up a first half goal with 4:18 left, and Husson went in to the break, down 13-1.

The Eagles came out firing in the second frame, and Jami-Miranda Ladd (Barre, VT) epitomized the Husson resolve scoring just 0:45 into the half. Rebecca Hatin (Jeffersonville, VT) scored another to bring the deficit back to single digits before Alexander put another one between the pipes. Gambon  scored a man-down goal and would finish the day with two points on the one goal and one assist.

Gordon would put in a pair before Husson stuck again with a shot from Alex Huffman (North Hampton, NH) that was assisted by Stephanie Eaton (Pittston, ME).  Gordon scored four more goals to bring them to 19 on the day with 2:57 left, but the Eagles refused to quit, and Stauffer scored with 15 seconds left to play making the final score 19-6.
