Women's Golf Earns Fifth Place Showing at Empire 8 Championship; Goulet Takes Runner-Up Medalist Honors

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. – The Husson University women's golf team finished in fifth place overall in the final team standings as the Eagles shot a combined team score of 767 (387-380) at the Empire 8 Championship, which took place at Ballston Spa Country Club.

SUNY Cortland took home the top spot and the conference crown with a 36-hole score of 667 (331-336), while Suffolk finished second overall at 731 (366-365).  Johnson & Wales (R.I.) rounded out the top three at 762 (369-393).

Katie Goulet was the top performer for Husson overall as she finished in second place at 163 (82-81). Makenzie Plourde took eight strokes off her opening round score and climbed nine spots on the leader board to finish in a three-way tie for 20th with a 194 (101-93)

Tori Jones earned a tie for 27th place with a two-day total of 202 (100-102), while Taylor Burbo finished six strokes back in a two-way tie for 33rd place at 208 (104-104).

Veronica Diaz finished 37th at 212 (108-104).

The Eagles return to links on October 22-23 for the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at The Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
