Women Cruise Past NEC for the Win

BANGOR, Maine – Husson women notch another victory on their belt, advancing them to record breaking twenty home game win streak, as they cruise past New England College 72-51.

The Eagles (15-1) ran the first three and a half minutes of the game in the paint, taking an early 5-0 lead. The first quarter maintained a steady back and forth battle once the Pilgrim's (14-4) entered onto the scoreboard, until the final three minutes when Husson shot ahead with an 11-0 run to bring the score to 22-6.

With five minutes remaining in the first half, the Eagle's relentless defense forced the Pilgrim's to give up fifteen turnovers., Husson followed up by taking full advantage of these opportunities and gaining eleven points off of the turnovers.

NEC redeemed themselves in the second quarter, nearly tripling their six points from the first ten minutes with sixteen points. At the end of the first twenty minutes, the Pilgrims led in boards with nineteen rebounds, but the Eagles had already captured a steady 36-22 lead on the scoreboard. On the half, Husson tallied up seven steals with two players in double digits, Kenzie Worcester at fifteen points and Chandler Guerrette at thirteen points.

The Eagles kept the Pilgrims scoreless in the last three minutes of the third quarter, adding on seven points to advance into the final quarter with a 61-33 lead.  

Ending the night, Worcester broke twenty points for the third game this season, after draining nine field goals with 21 total points. Guerrette also showed a high scoring night, gathering nineteen points for the Eagles. As for the Pilgrims, both Jocelyn Vien and Daleia Boutwell entered double digits with ten points each. Another Pilgrims player, Breana Ramirez, was a huge help under the basket, contributing an impressive high of the night at 10 rebounds. Overall, the Eagles finished the game snagging nineteen steals, with five a piece for Sarah Bragg and Darla Morales, to help capture the win.
