Lyndsay Merrill enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Husson softball team in 2018.
Prior to joining the Eagle coaching staff, Merrill was a four-year letterwinner for the Eagles as an infielder from 2013-16. She helped guide the team to three-straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) regular season and tournament titles from 2013-15 with a NCAA DIII Championship Tournament Regional Runner-Up finish in 2015 and was tabbed as the first NAC softball Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2016.
Merrill was an All-NAC choice in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and became the first Eagle in program history to earn College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors in 2016. She was also named to the NAC All-Tournament team in 2016.
In 152 career games, Merrill batted .372 (167-for-449) with 10 homers, 106 RBIs, 167 hits, 116 runs scored, 36 doubles, 17 triples and 12 walks. She ranks in the top 25 in school history in games played (7th), at bats (5th), runs (9th), hits (4th), doubles (5th), triples (t-1st), home runs (7th), RBIs (4th), hit by pitch (26, 1st), extra-base hits (63, t-3rd), total bases (267, 3rd), batting average (12th), slugging percentage (.595, 9th), and on-base plus slugging percentage (1.013, 9th).
The senior captain set the single-game record for triples with three vs. Bridgewater (Va.) on March 8, 2016 and tied the HU record for most times being hit by a pitch in a single-game when Castleton hit her twice on May 6, 2016. Merrill also broke the single-season records for most times being hit by a pitch with 12 and assists with 103 her senior season.
Off the diamond, Merrill was named to the All-NAC Academic Squad twice in 2015 and 2016
Merrill earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Sports Management from Husson in 2016.
A native of Bethel, Maine, Merrill attended Telstar Regional High School.
