CLERMONT, Fla. – The Eagles suffered a tough loss against Haverford, despite an attempt to rally in the sixth, Husson softball came up just short falling 1-2 to the Fords.

Husson (5-3) scored their only run in the top of the sixth after Nicole Andrade took a walk to first, followed by a dropped fly ball out in center hit by Chloe Gorey. Taking full advantage of the error, Andrade raced home to cut down Haverford's (1-4) lead to 2-1 which would finish out the game.

The Fords scored their two runs split between the first and third inning. Jessica Koshinski put Haverford on the board with a double, sending Julia Blake home from second. Then in the bottom of the third, the Koshinski and Blake duo were back at it, nearly showing an instant replay of the first inning with Koshinski hitting Blake home from second with a double. Only this time, Blake reached second after stealing from first following a single, rather than an error.

Both teams saw speedy 1-2-3 innings with stellar defense. Haverford's pitcher, Kendall Chambers, only allowed the one hit and one run in the sixth inning, while notching four strikeouts and watching two Husson players walk. Koshinski was the big hitter of the day, racking in two doubles and the only two RBI's. Temma Levis also helped out her team with a sacrifice bunt.

The Eagles struggled offensively, only seeing one player to record a hit, Olivia Smith, while Andrade scored the only run. In the circle for Husson was Arika Brochu, with zero walks, two K's, and only letting through five hits in just six innings.

Husson softball will be back in doubleheader action on Thursday, March 9th starting with John Carroll at 8am and Drew at 10am, down in Leesburg, Fla.
