Softball Drops First Two Games of NFCA Leadoff Classic

Columbus, GA - Husson softball opened its 2013 season with two losses in the NFCA Leadoff Classic as part of their spring break trip. The Eagles fell to #25 Washington University (9-1) 8-0 in five innings. Later that evening, they dropped an 11-1 score to Alma.

Game 1 vs. Washington University:

Becca McCarty (Skowhegan, ME) pitched 4.1 innings for the Eagles, while Amanda Ryan (Brewer, ME) closed it out. McCarty was credited with the loss, while Washington pitcher Kelsey Neal got the win. Kelsey Livermore (Kennebunk, ME), Deb Colpitts (Levant, ME), and Aimee Mortensen (Biddeford, ME) all registered one hit for Husson. Maggie Mullen and Kelsey Neal registered two runs apiece for WashU. 

Game 2 vs. Alma:

Amanda Ryan pitched for the Eagles in the loss, while Samantha Pierce pitched for Alma. Husson scored its only run of the game in the fourth inning before the game was called in the fifth.
