Records Fall as Men's Indoor Track & Field Finish Fifth Overall at the 2018 Bowdoin Invitational I

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Husson men's indoor track and field team competed in their first scoring meet at the Bowdoin Invitational at Bowdoin College. They finished in fifth place with a score of 23.

With one competing in the 60 meter dash, freshman Jake Dobbs finished fourteenth with a time of 7.53 seconds. Also competing in this race was freshmen Marcus Theriault crossing over at 7.73 seconds.

The top two runners for the 200 meter dash was Dobbs who broke a new school record with a time of 24.44 seconds while Theriault crossed over at 24.72 seconds.

Finishing the 600 meter run was freshmen Blake Trueworthy who took home fifth place with a time of 1:33.19.

Zach Hartman was the lone runner in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:42.10, finishing just nine seconds behind the leader and placing seventh.

The 4x400 meter team achieved a new school record with time of 3:44.67. The relay team finished in fifth place and was composed of freshmen Saker Ghanayem, freshmen Zach Hartman, freshmen William Richard and, holding up the rear, freshmen Blake Trueworthy.

Freshmen Dominic Lizotte took home second place in the pole vault with a height of 4.10 meters. Lizotte placed sixth in the triple jump with a 12.00 meters setting a new school record.

Closing out the meet were the throwing events with Eric Hathaway who placed second in the shot put with a throw distance of 14.27 meters setting a new school record. Hathaway also competed in the weight throw (6th) with a distance of of 12.48 meters. Hathaway surpassed his previous weight throw by 0.43 meters.

Also competing in the shot put and finishing respectively was freshmen Joseph Minard 11.22 meters (9th), freshmen John Chen 11.21 meters (10th) and freshmen Tyler Blair 11.09 meters (11th). Blair (10.10 meters), Minard (9.63 meters) and Chen (foul) also competed.

Placing in the top 10, Hathaway took home sixth with a weight throw distance of 12.48 meters.

The men's indoor track and field team will travel to Lewiston, Maine next weekend for the Bates Invitational at Bates College on Sat. January 20.
