BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Friday night at Boucher Field.

The lone goal of the game was scored in the 10th minute when Saint Joseph's was awarded a corner kick. Off the corner kick by Cody Elliot, Brett Mattos found the back of the net making the score 1-0.

Paxton Oversmith led the Eagles offense with 3 shots.

Saint Josephs outshot the Eagles, 14-7.

Blake Mullen made two saves for the Monks.

Cody Gross had three saves in the loss.

"I am very happy with our performance today," said head coach Gavin Penny. "The lads have done tremendously well and in the end came up short. Adrian is a great coach with a great bunch who will do well again this year and we gave them a good battle today. We executed everything that we have worked on but just couldn't find the net. We're all looking forward to Tuesday night."

The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, September 5th against the University of Southern Maine Huskies for a 6:00 p.m. game on Boucher Field.
