Spartans End Men's Soccer's Five Game Winning Streak, 2-0

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Castleton University on a rainy Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Boucher Field.

Derek Blouin got the scoring started early, tallying a goal in the 20th minute to make it 1-0 in favor of Castleton (6-8-2, 6-2-0 NAC).

In the second half, Jack Kingdon extended the Spartan advantage to 2-0 in the 64th minute.

Aaron Parker made three saves for the Spartans.

Cody Gross record six saves in the loss for the Husson (7-6-2, 5-2-1 NAC).

Rod Ghanayem had three shots for the Eagles, while Jimmy Fitzpatrick and Matthew Crockett each had two shots.

Castleton outshot the Eagles 15-9.

"Today was a tough loss for us," said head coach Gavin Penny. "I thought we possessed very well and continued to try to work the ball into good areas. Unfortunately it just wasn't our day. John O'Conner is a great coach and has his team super organized. We just could not break them down in the final third and that was the difference today."

The Spartans return to action tomorrow when they face Maine Maritime in a 2:30 contest for their final NAC battle of the season. Husson will return to action on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when they host Green Mountain in their regular season finale. The Eagles have plans to honor the program's eight seniors Cooper Antone, Josh Bean, Viktor Domberg, Steven Paquette, Nic Pare, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Dylan Wetmore and Bobby St. Hilaire.
