The Husson University Sport Management Department is hosting a "Show Up Show Down" for this evening's Men's Soccer Semifinal against rival Maine Maritime Academy at 7:00 pm, under the lights at Boucher Field. Free Pizza and drinks will be served immediately prior to kickoff to the first 200 people. Along with the free food and drinks, the Sport Management Department is offering a $100 cash prize as well as a $50 second prize to the student organizations which are best represented at the game. Fraternities, Sorrorities and other student organizations are invited to attend, and register for their prize on the east side of the field behind the bleachers.
As for the soccer action, the #1 seeded Eagles will host their arch rivals, the Mariners of the Maine Maritime Academy who upset last year's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) champion Thomas College in their opening round match. Husson won the regular season contest with MMA 2-0 in Castine on September 25th. Philip Frost's (Bangor, ME) fourth goal of the 12 he scored this year proved to be the game winner, while Tyler Metevier (Kittery, ME) added insurance later in the match. Both goals were assisted by the front-flipping long throw of first year back Andrew Austin (Ellsworth, ME), and goalkeeper Brian Potter (Waterville, ME) recorded a 5 save shutout which sparked a streak of 4 consecutive shutout victories to kick-off NAC play for the rookie.
Husson will look for more of the same tonight when they host the Mariners with a spot in the NAC Championship at stake.
